When in and around town in Springfield, you will be amazed at the options available in terms of attractions and things to do during a vacation trip. Opportunities await, and they are going to make for a premium vacation experience that you won't easily forget.
Things to See
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library
You're in the land of Lincoln. At this library, a cache of documents, artifacts and other national treasures abound. This venue is a resource center.
This prairie-inspired home was a work of Frank Lloyd Wright. This home is said to be one of Wright's best designs. Check it out at 301 E. Lawrence Avenue.
Camp Butler National Cemetary
This is the burial site of almost 20,000 veterans. Some were Confederate or Union soldiers. This was a Confederate prison and a Union Army training camp before it became a cemetary.
Things to Do
Obed & Isaac's Microbrewery & Eatery
When they are finished brewing their on-site beer, the leftover is used in the flatbread used to make pizza. This Italian-style mansion is a fantastic place for food and beer, along with good times.
When you can shop in a huge mall, see bronze statues, view an aquarium full of wonder, check out a huge Ferris wheel, fire away at a shooting gallery, spend time with a NASCAR simulator and other simulators, you should get your fill while you can. You may want to make this stop an all-day affair. While there, check out the amazing Walk of Presidents and then fill your belly with delicious fudge shop and deli treats.
Knight's Action Park
Try not to get lost in the Bermuda Triangle, an extreme ride in the action park. Wave pools, an action river ride, Seal Bay for the children, a water slide and more make this a sought after venue. There's some dry attractions for those who want to stay away from the water: golf, mini-golf, go carts, batting cages, and The Paratrooper.
Arts and culture, fun and thrills, walks down history lane and more await in this city. President Lincoln called it home for over 20 years.
