Ferrel Clydesdale Farms

Hear the clop clop of heavy hooves at the Ferrel Clydesdale Farm, where this majestic animals are housed. It's possible to rent a Chuck wagon for a cookout. A blacksmith shop is also on the property. The farm has been in operation since 1850.

Reenactment

See living history at Fort de Chartres, which was once a military defensive structure for the French. View glimpses of pioneer life, and catch reenactments of artillery actions.

Eagle Watching

Early in the year you can enjoy eagle watching at Starved Rock State Park. When the imperial birds travel to Canada from January through February, you can see see masses of these wintering birds in the Rockford area. If you want to jaunt to the apex of the rock, you can get the best view.
